Female Births Are 4% Less Than Registered Male Births In Bihar, UP, Gujarat, Haryana, Rajasthan: RGI
According to data compiled by the Registrar General of India, in 2020, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Haryana, Jharkhand, Maharashtra, and Rajasthan had a substantially larger discrepancy in the registration of male births than female births (RGI).
According to the sex-wise distribution of registered births, the share of registered female births is around 4% lower than registered male births. According to the RGI’s report “Vital Statistics of India based on the Civil Registration System” for the year 2020, a total of 2,422,444 births were recorded in India 2020, with 1,25,96,700 (52%) males and 1,16,24,933 (48%) females.
According to the survey, the birth registration gap is even wider in Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Haryana, Jharkhand, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, and Rajasthan. According to data, in 2020, Bihar had 1443.8 female births per lakh people, compared to 1600.8 male births, according to data.
In 2020, Madhya Pradesh had a female birth rate of 785.9 per lakh population, compared to 867.7 male births. In Gujarat, there were 525.4 female births for every 577.8 male births, and in Haryana, there were 282.1 female births for every 309.7 male births.
In Jharkhand, there were 309.2 female births for every 339.2 male births, whereas, in Maharashtra, there were 817 female births for every 895 male births. A total of 2330 people were registered in Uttar Pradesh.
Rajasthan had 892.0 female births compared to 977.3 male births, with 1 female birth for every 2524.0 male births. However, when it comes to death registration, males outnumber females by around 20.4 per cent in the country.
In practically all important states – Jharkhand, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Rajasthan, Karnataka, and Uttar Pradesh – the gap is wider in death registration.
