The Executive Council endorsed this proposal after the Academic Council approved it at its meeting on December 10th.

After receiving approval from its Executive Council on Friday, Delhi University will begin using a uniform entrance test for undergraduate admissions in 2022.

The Executive Council approved this proposal after the Academic Council approved it at their meeting on December 10. On Friday, sixteen members of the Academic Council and two members of the Executive Council dissented. According to a senior university official, the administration will now focus on the examination method.

The Executive Council also authorised paid maternity leave for adhoc teachers and contractual workers, a long-standing request from the university’s substantial adhoc faculty membership. It endorsed the conclusions of a five-member committee formed earlier this year to provide recommendations on the subject.

“The Committee notes that ad hoc or contractual women teaching and non-teaching employees are engaged for a fixed term,” its report stated. “Within the specified time of such fixed-term employment, paid maternity leave may be awarded to such female university/college employees for a maximum of 26 weeks.”

A proposal for paying honoraria and providing other benefits to foreign adjunct faculty members was also approved by the Council. Both the Academic and Executive Councils supported the recommendation for the empanelment of adjunct faculty for value addition and internationalisation of academic activities during their meetings in August. The EC approved the recommendation proposal of the Committee for Empanelment of Adjunct Faculty, which includes payment of a monthly honorarium up to Rs. 80,000; cost of economy class air travel; medical insurance expenses for the period of stay in India; local travel expenses, as per actuals; and free lodging and boarding in the University’s International Guest House.

On Friday, the DU Vice-Chancellor unveiled his new staff, which includes Protector Rajni Abbi, who was previously the BJP’s North Delhi Mayor.
