Hyderabad to host President Draupadi Murmu from Monday
As part of her yearly trip to the south, President Draupadi Murmu will spend the first five days of her trip in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.
Rashtrapati Nilayam in Bollaram in the Secunderabad cantonment region, according to a top official in the state government, has been spruced up to welcome Murmu, who is visiting Hyderabad for the first time as President.
Since the 1950s, it has become a tradition for the President to travel to the south in December, stopping briefly in Hyderabad with his or her family.
Rashtrapati Nilayam, near Hyderabad, has been chosen for the winter vacation, whereas the President typically retreats to Shimla during the summer. All 11 of the rooms for the president’s stay are in a grand structure that was constructed in 1860 on a vast property that spans 90 acres.
In a high-level meeting last week, state chief secretary Somesh Kumar reviewed the preparations for the presidential visit and instructed the officials to work with the local authorities to make sure that there wouldn’t be any hiccups during the events Murmu would be attending.
On Monday, Murmu would fly down to Srisailam, a temple town in Andhra Pradesh’s Nandyal district, soon after arriving in Hyderabad. There, she would have the darshan of Lord Mallikarjuna Swami and Goddess Bramarambika temples.
According to a statement from the Andhra Pradesh government, the president would be welcomed at Srisailam by the state’s chief minister, Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, his cabinet members, and local MLAs. The Pilgrimage Rejuvenation and Spiritual Augmentation Drive (PRASAD) plan of the tourism department will be launched at the temple during the president’s visit.
The renowned Ramappa temple in Mulug district, which was recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage site last year, will be visited by the president on December 28. She would attend regionally organised events on the same day and visit the Bhadrachalam temple in the Bhadradri Kothagudem area.
According to a press release, Murmu will also attend the installation of the Har Dil Dhyan plaque in Hyderabad to commemorate the sesquicentennial festivities of Sri Ramachandraji Maharaj of Fatehpur by Sri Ramchandra Mission at Kanha Shanti Vanam.
