Lily Collins, star of Emily in Paris, welcomes her first child

Emily in Paris star Lily Collins has welcomed her first child via surrogacy. The 35-year-old actress shared the joyous news in a joint Instagram post with her husband, film director Charlie McDowell.
“Welcome to the center of our world, Tove Jane McDowell,” the couple wrote. “Words will never express our endless gratitude for our incredible surrogate and everyone who helped us along the way.” The post featured a photo of their newborn daughter peacefully sleeping, with a blanket displaying her name. It concluded with, “We love you to the moon and back again.”
The announcement came just one day after Collins shared a heartfelt tribute to her father, musician Phil Collins, on his birthday. “From a west coast star to the West End stage and everywhere in between, I’m so grateful to be by your side and for the support, experiences, and love we have and will continue to share,” she wrote, sharing pictures of the two together, including one from her father’s Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony in 1999 when she was just 10 years old.
Collins, born in Guildford and raised in Los Angeles, began her acting career at a young age. In 2020, she became widely known for her role as American marketing executive Emily Cooper in Netflix’s hit romantic comedy Emily in Paris. The series follows Emily’s adventures working at a firm in Paris, and in the fourth season released last year, her character moves to Rome to open a new office. The show has been renewed for a fifth season, though the filming location has yet to be confirmed.
Last year, Collins also made her West End stage debut in Barcelona, a romantic thriller where she played an American tourist who has a one-night stand with a Spaniard, portrayed by Money Heist‘s Álvaro Morte.
