Microsoft has announced the restoration of cloud services following a global outage
Microsoft reported on Friday that its cloud services have been successfully restored after experiencing an outage. The U.S. technology giant had issued a late Thursday notice regarding disruptions affecting customers in the Central U.S. region across various Azure services and its Microsoft 365 suite. Issues included difficulties with service management operations, connectivity, and service availability.
By Friday, Microsoft had identified the root cause and managed to restore the majority of affected services. Despite this progress, the company cautioned that some customers in the region might still encounter problems.
“While most services have been recovered, a small subset continues to experience residual impact,” Microsoft stated.
The outage affected several Microsoft 365 services, notably Teams. Reuters reported on Friday that the cloud disruption prompted some airlines, including U.S.-based Frontier Airlines, to ground flights due to system impacts caused by the Microsoft outage.
“During this time, booking, check-in, access to your boarding pass, and some flights may be impacted,” Frontier Airlines informed its customers.
This incident marks another disruption in Microsoft’s cloud services following a global outage in January, which affected services from Outlook to Teams. Microsoft attributed that disruption to a network change at the time.
