Odisha bans firework from Nov 10 to 30 for the safety of COVID-19 patients

The government of Odisha has banned the sale and use of firework from 10th Nov to 30th Nov, considering that it can have negative impacts on COVID-19 patients. Odisha’s special relief commissioner urged people to celebrate eco-friendly Diwali with earthen lamps and candles.
Firecrackers release toxic gases such as nitrous oxide, sulfur dioxide, and carbon monoxide which deteriorate the environment and impact respiratory health.
Rajasthan has also banned firecrackers this year due to its potentially harmful effects and adverse effect on the air quality. Karnataka is also considering bans on firecrackers.
