In a tragic turn of events, Jonnie Irwin, the beloved TV presenter celebrated for his roles on property shows such as ‘Escape to the Country’ and ‘A Place in the Sun,’ has passed away at the age of 50. Diagnosed with terminal cancer in 2020, Irwin courageously battled the disease that originated in his lungs and later spread to his brain. Initially given only six months to live, he defied the odds and continued to inspire with his positive outlook.

The news of Irwin’s demise was shared via his Instagram account, where a heartfelt statement highlighted his impact on countless lives through his kindness, warmth, and infectious spirit. Freeform Productions, the production company behind ‘A Place in the Sun,’ expressed their sorrow, stating, “Jonnie was a much-loved part of the A Place in the Sun family,” and shared fond memories of his 18-year contribution to the show.
