Rural India is adopting EVs more frequently, according to Tata Motors.
In rural India, Tata Motors reported seeing an increase in the use of passenger electric vehicles (EVs) and a rising demand for them.
Vivek Srivatsa, Head of Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Ltd., stated that with the release of the Tiago EV, there has been a rise in demand and EV adoption in small towns.
According to him, the corporation was growing EV production in accordance with customer demand.
Tata Motors revealed on Thursday that the Nexon EV had set a new record for the “fastest” EV trip from Kashmir to Kanyakumari. The electric vehicle had successfully completed the 4,003 km voyage in 95 hours and 46 minutes, demonstrating its capacity to make multi-city journeys.
The improved continuous rapid charging network that is present on Indian highways also made it possible for this nonstop travel. The Nexon EV saved time in finishing the entire trip, but also money when compared to an ICE vehicle, the company said in a statement.
According to Shailesh Chandra, MD of Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd., “This achievement is a testament to the extremely large expertise of the product and the affordability of a better and healthier charging network across the country.
“There were fast charging stations at regular intervals, between 75 and 100 kilometres, which is by itself a significant accomplishment for India’s EV ecosystem,” he continued.
He added, “I am optimistic that this K2K drive will motivate more consumers to choose EVs and evolve to electric.” The objective was to demonstrate that Tata Motors’ customers could confidently plan lengthy trips using the Nexon EVs’ increased range in addition to the constantly expanding charging network.
