Saare Jahan Se Achha, according to producer Siddharth Roy Kapur, would not be shelved because it is a fantastic storey that is close to his heart. Saare Jahan Se Achha, based on the life of astronaut Rakesh Sharma, is being produced by Roy Kapur. Mahesh Mathai will helm the biopic, which is based on a script by acclaimed writer Anjum Rajabali.

The actor Aamir Khan was asked first to play Sharma. Later on, Shah Rukh Khan was considered for the starring role. He was close to making the picture, but things didn’t work out.

According to the producer, it was a deliberate decision to support various ventures.
