Since when Elon Musk tweeted “Use Signal” the messaging signal app has been witnessing a rise in the number of users.

The new privacy policy of WhatsApp has upset many of its users and they were looking for a new platform when signals pop in. However, WhatsApp uses the Signal protocol for its end-to-end encryption feature, WhatsApp and its parent company Facebook is an arch-rival of the signal.

Recently signal accused Facebook of manipulating the search result page on the App Store. Sharing a picture where Facebook ads pop up when searched for signal, the messaging app tweeted, “Facebook is probably more comfortable selling ads than buying them, but they’ll do what they have to do in order to be the top result when some people search for ‘Signal’ in the App Store.”

“P.S. There will never be ads in Signal because your data belongs in your hands, not ours” it added.

After the tweet of Elon Musk, the registration server of the signal crashed. The app responded, “Verification codes are currently delayed across several providers because so many new people are trying to join Signal right now (we can barely register our excitement). We are working with carriers to resolve this as quickly as possible. Hang in there.”

Even in the earlier tweets signal taunted facebook and said, “We continue to shatter traffic records and add capacity as more and more people come to terms with how much they dislike Facebook’s new terms. If you weren’t able to create a new group recently, please try again. New servers are ready to serve you.”

Even stocks of an unrelated company, ‘Signal Advance’ increases by 1,100%
