The PM of UK said, the nation need to grasp AI, for remaining the tech Capital
The Prime Minister of United Kingdom, Rishi Sunak will urge tech executives on Monday to seize the potential and challenges presented by artificial intelligence in order for Britain to maintain its position as a global digital hub.
Sunak will say that “tectonic plates of technology are shifting” when introducing London Tech Week.
According to Sunak’s speech made available by his office, “We must act—and move soon—if we wish to not only maintain our status as one of the world’s IT capitals but also go even farther to establish this as one of the best nations in the world to launch, expand, and invest in tech enterprises.”
My aim is that. And I feel compelled and accountable to make sure we take advantage of it.
Governments are currently working to strike a balance so that they can examine and control some of the possible drawbacks of AI without limiting innovation.
In March, Britain decided against forming a new body just for the technology and instead decided to divide regulation of AI among the organisations that monitor human rights, safety and wellness, and competitiveness.
Sunak will discuss how the government would cooperate with businesses to take advantage of opportunities given by transformational technologies such as AI, which supporters have compared to the emergence of the internet, and how the tech industry is at the centre of his goal to expand the economy.
Sunak announced that Britain would organise a worldwide summit on “artificial intelligence” safety later this year to evaluate the hazards of AI and discuss how they may be minimised via globally integrated action. Sunak made the announcement during his trip to Washington last week.
“The opportunities are astounding. But we must do it safely, and we will. I want the UK to become the physical as well as the intellectual hub for international AI safety regulation.”
