Simbu debuted the teaser for his forthcoming film Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu on Friday. The title is a classic passage from a poem by Bharathiyar, a great Tamil poet. Gautham Menon wrote and directed the film, which features music by Oscar winner AR Rahman.

The film appears to follow the plight of a migrant labourer in Chennai city, based on the teaser. Simbu appears to play Muthu, a young man who is compelled to seek menial work in the city as the conditions in his village become unsuitable for farming. And he is abused and shoved around by males who appear to take advantage of the migrant workforce. And Muthu is forced to take up arms in order to protect himself from exploitation as a result of the injustice.

The action is accompanied by a song, which is the centrepiece of the teaser. The song, composed and sung by Rahman, is a paradox. The song is about the protagonist’s pain, but the music is upbeat and uplifting.
