Consumer Price Index for farm, rural labourers for August increased by 9 points
For August, the agricultural and rural labourer segments of the All India Consumer Price Index grew by nine points each, to 1140 and 1152 points, respectively.
According to the Ministry of Labor and Employment, an increase in the prices of rice, wheat flour, bajra, maize, pulses, milk, onions, chillies, turmeric whole, mixed spices, vegetables, fruits, jaggery, and other food items was a major factor in the general index of agricultural and rural labourers rising by 7.74 and 7.36 points, respectively.
The index increased differently in each state. In 20 states, there was a rise of 3 to 15 points for agricultural labourers. According to the Ministry, Himachal Pradesh came in last with 898 points, while Tamil Nadu came in first with 1312 points.
In 20 states, there was a rise of 3 to 17 points for rural labourers. Himachal Pradesh was at the bottom of the index table with 951 points, while Tamil Nadu was at the top with 1301 points.
In terms of states and UTs, Jammu and Kashmir and Uttar Pradesh experienced the largest increases in the Consumer Price Index numbers for agricultural labourers (15 points each) and rural labourers (17 points), respectively. These increases were primarily brought on by increases in the prices of rice, wheat flour, vegetables, fruits, and other food items.
The Ministry added that the point-to-point rate of inflation based on the CPI-AL and CPI-RL was 6.94% and 7.26% in August 2022, respectively, compared to 6.60% and 6.82% and 3.90% and 3.97% in the same month the previous year. Similarly, food inflation in August 2022 was 6.16 percent and 6.21 percent, respectively, compared to 5.38 percent and 5.44 percent in July 2022 and 2.13 percent and 2.32 percent in the same month the previous year.
