Sonu Nigam and his companions were mistreated at a Mumbai event; a FIR was filed against the MLA’s son.
In a fight over taking a picture with the popular musician at a musical event in Mumbai on Tuesday, police claimed that the son of an MLA shoved the musician Sonu Nigam and his two companions and mistreated them.
An official said that Nigam’s associate was hurt in the incident that occurred at Chembur Gymkhana on Monday night following the singer’s musical concert.
According to the authority, the Chembur police have filed an FIR against Swapnil Phaterpekar, the son of Shiv Sena local MLA Prakash Phaterpekar, under Indian Penal Code Sections 323 (voluntary infliction of harm), 341 (wrongful confinement), and 337 (inflicting harm by jeopardising the life or physical security of others) in response to a complaint Nigam made.
Nigam allegedly complained that while he and his companions were exiting the stage following the concert, Swapnil Phaterpekar, who was later recognised, approached from behind and grabbed hold of the singer. It appears that the defendant wanted a selfie with the singer.
According to the allegation, Nigam’s coworker Hari Prakash attempted to dissuade the defendant and drew him aside. However, the official cited the complaint and claimed that the accused reportedly manhandled Prakash, causing him to fall from the stage.
According to the complaint, the accused then shoved Nigam, causing him to fall on the stairs as well.
The defendant allegedly also assaulted Rabbani Khan, another coworker of Nigam, who stepped forward to assist him. Khan also stumbled, according to the allegation.
According to a representative of the Chembur police station, the support personnel who were standing close to the stage then moved forward and restrained the suspect. Khan was brought to a hospital in Chembur with injuries, he claimed.
According to the official, Nigam went to the Chembur police department early on Tuesday, gave a statement, and lodged a complaint against the defendant. He also added that an investigation was ongoing.
Later, the suspect’s sister tweeted that the organisers had expressed their regret to Nigam and his crew for the unfortunate occurrence on behalf of the organizers.
She claimed that her brother was attempting to take a photo with musician Nigam as he was hastily escorted off the stage after giving his show.
