Olivia Rodrigo Draws Inspiration from Best Friend’s Love Life for the “Logical” Track

Olivia Rodrigo, the 20-year-old singer-songwriter, recently revealed the unique source of inspiration behind one of the tracks on her latest album, “Guts.” Contrary to common assumptions that her lyrics are solely based on her own experiences, Olivia disclosed that her best friend, Madison Hu, served as the muse for the song “Logical.”

The pair first met while starring together in the Disney Channel show “Bizaardvark.” However, the creative spark for “Logical” ignited during a night out when Madison discussed one of her relationships, describing it as “just not logical.” Olivia seized this candid expression and turned it into the heartfelt ballad we now hear on her album.

In a conversation with Radio 1’s Live Lounge, Olivia acknowledged Madison’s contribution to her creative process and humorously mentioned that her friends should be prepared for songs to be written about them. She emphasised that each songwriting experience is unique and varies every time.

Olivia often collaborates closely with her creative partner, Daniel Nigro, which keeps her songs personal and authentic. She expressed that the tracks on “Guts,” her second album, are deeply meaningful to her personal growth and served as a means to express her emotions.

“Guts” made its debut at number one upon its release, continuing Olivia’s successful music career. Despite speculation about the individuals her lyrics are aimed at, Olivia believes that her songs resonate with people from diverse backgrounds, emphasising that relatable experiences can transcend individual details.

To kick off Radio 1’s Live Lounge Month, Olivia Rodrigo performed “Get him back!” and covered Noah Kahan’s “Stick Season.” Noah Kahan, the original artist of the latter song, expressed his excitement and surprise on Instagram when he learned of Olivia’s cover.
