Renowned US actor Jamie Foxx, born Eric Marlon Bishop, is now entangled in a legal battle following a woman’s lawsuit accusing him of sexual assault at a New York City restaurant nearly eight years ago. The accuser alleges that Foxx, in an intoxicated state, subjected her to unwanted advances after she approached him for a photograph at Catch NYC during the early hours of August 26, 2015. The lawsuit, which seeks damages for “sexual assault, abuse, assault, and battery,” portrays Foxx making inappropriate comments about the woman’s physique and fragrance. The incident reportedly came to a halt when her friend intervened.
The legal action does not solely target Foxx; it also encompasses Mark Birnbaum, the restaurant’s owner, who was allegedly seated with Foxx before the assault. The accuser argues that Birnbaum and the restaurant staff breached their duty of care by failing to prevent the assault.
