Kylie Minogue announces her biggest tour in ten years

Popstar Kylie Minogue has announced her biggest world tour in over a decade, along with a sequel to her comeback album, Tension II.

The album, featuring 13 tracks, will be released on October 18, with the global tour kicking off in her home country of Australia in February, before moving on to Asia and the UK.

In a statement, the pop icon expressed her excitement about “celebrating the Tension era and more” with her fans. While twenty dates have been announced so far, Minogue hinted that more shows are on the way.

At 56, she is experiencing a career renaissance, buoyed by the success of Tension and her hit single, “Padam Padam.” In February, she won her second Grammy—20 years after her first—and the following month she was honored with the Brits’ Global Icon Award.

Since her debut as the spirited car mechanic Charlene on the soap opera Neighbours in 1986, Kylie has accumulated dozens of hit singles and a trophy cabinet brimming with awards. She has also performed at the Sydney Olympics, been named an OBE, and starred in several films.

The announcement of the tour and album has generated considerable excitement, but also some scheduling conflicts. The concert dates in Newcastle coincide with Eurovision, which will be held in Switzerland in May. Additionally, her shows in Sydney overlap with the annual Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras parade, creating a tough decision for many of her Australian fans, particularly given her strong following in the LGBT community.

“What should we do… On a Night Like This?!” one commenter mused online.

In response to the excitement, she teased, “There will be a whole lot of Padaming,” referencing her viral, Grammy-winning single from 2023.
