Prashant Bhushan, lawyer, and activist responded to the PM Modi speech in the Rajya Sabha where he used the term Andolan jivi (professional protestors).

He showed his disagreement with PM Modi on these remarks and tweeted, “those who used to earlier say that they have made their political career through agitation, are now calling farmers ‘agitation jivi’ to humiliate them.”

The PM in his speech said that now the FDI stands for “Foreign Destructive Ideology”.

“We are well aware of some terms like ‘Shram Jivi’ and ‘Buddhi Jivi’. But, I am seeing that from some time a new entity has come up in this country- ‘Andolan Jivi’. This community can be spotted wherever there is a protest, be it agitation by lawyers, students, or laborers, sometimes at the forefront and sometimes from behind. They cannot live without protests. We have to identify such people and protect the nation from them. They are parasites.”

PM Modi further assured that the MSP will be continued but the farmers’ leaders are not happy with this assurance they are asking for written proof. Farmer leader Rakesh Tikait said that the country does not run on trust. It runs on the constitution and law.

“MSP was there (in the past). MSP is there (now). MSP will remain in the future,” said PM Modi.

He further added, “Also, affordable ration for the poor (through the public distribution system) will continue.”
