Support pours in for Kavitha; TRS condemns BJP charges
Following the BJP’s association of her name with the Delhi liquor scandal, ministers, TRS MLAs, MLCs, and hundreds of activists flocked to the residence of party MLC Kalvakuntla Kavitha in Banjara Hills on Tuesday to show their support for her.
They chanted anti-BJP and anti-Prime Minister Narendra Modi chants and denounced the alleged BJP workers’ attempts to break into Kavitha’s home on Monday. They threatened the BJP leaders and members with dire repercussions if they engaged in similar behaviour again.
Participants in the show of force included Ministers Talasani Srinivas Yadav and Satyavathi Rathod, as well as MLAs A. Jeevan Reddy, Bajireddy Goverdhan, Shakeel Ahmed, Danam Nagender, Challa Dharma Reddy, and Bigala Ganesh Gupta, MLC Shambhipur Raju, and GHMC corporators.
In media releases, Ministers A. Indrakaran Reddy, Errabelli Dayakar Rao, and Koppula Eshwar expressed their support for Kavitha and denounced the BJP’s efforts to harm the character of the Chief Minister’s family by making untrue accusations.
Leaders of the TRS referred to Kavitha as the “Bathukamma of Telangana” and threatened the BJP with being “reduced to ashes” if they attempted to bring bogus charges against her. According to them, the BJP leaders wouldn’t be able to leave their homes if the TRS retaliated because of its 60 lakh activists.
They asserted that the Modi administration used government investigating agencies improperly to target political opponents. Leaders of the TRS claimed that Kavitha had clarified the Delhi liquor scandal and dared the Centre to launch an investigation.
“The BJP leaders should accept Kavitha’s challenge if they have the guts to do so. However, they are turning to attacking her home, which will not be accepted. Kavitha and her family are being supported by the TRS leaders and cadre. Kavitha, Rama Rao, the chief minister, K. Chandrashekar Rao, and other people gave up a lot to create the state. Such outrageous accusations will not intimidate them, declared Srinivas Yadav.
