Before the end of this decade, 6G services will probably be available in India! Yes, that is what Prime Minister Narendra Modi says, and he adds that the Indian government is investing heavily in technology and that young people in India should be prepared to benefit from it.

He also emphasised that, as the IT Minister had previously stated, the nation is getting ready to launch 5G services this year.

In his remarks at the Smart India Hackathon 2022’s Grand Finale, Prime Minister Modi said via video conference, “Young people can work on new solutions to increase the use of drone technology in the agriculture and health sector. By the end of this decade, we also want to introduce 6G. In the gaming and entertainment industries, we support Indian solutions. Every young person should take advantage of the government of India’s investments in technology.

In addition, the prime minister urged young people in the nation to utilise optical fibre technology in every town. Additionally, he stated that the nation is prepared to introduce its 5G services. Additionally, the government will support the gaming industry.

Although details of the new 6G technology have not yet been made public, testing has already started in several parts of the world. In contrast to the 20 Gbps promised by 5G, 1 Tbps is anticipated from 6G. Future technologies like Wi-Fi implants, driverless automobiles, and other cutting-edge technologies are likely to benefit from the high speeds of 6G services.

Even though 5G still seems like a distant dream, India is now getting ready for 5G services. Ashwini Vaishnaw, the telecom minister for the Union, recently declared that the 5G spectrum auctions had ended and that the country’s telecom companies should start deploying their 5G infrastructure shortly. The minister recently stated that by October 12, the first commercial 5G networks might be operational.

Better connectivity across the country and higher internet speeds are promised by 5G services. How the telecom companies price 5G plans is still an open question. While several have suggested premium pricing, others have proposed cheap costs comparable to 4G LTE rates.
