Indian Cricket captain Rohit Sharma disclosed Iyer’s back injury
With a draw in the last test in Ahmedabad, India had won the Border-Gavaskar series 2-1. With 480 runs in the first innings, Australia had a commanding lead in batting heaven.
With right-handed batter Shreyas Iyer not stepping out to bat, India also responded in the same way, scoring 571/9.
On the fourth day of the final test, Iyer was brought to the hospital for scans after complaining of back pain. The batsman also missed the first Test in Nagpur owing to a back issue before returning for the second Test in Delhi.
The Ahmedabad Test’s captain, Rohit Sharma, discussed Iyer’s injury during the post-game presentation.
Poor man. Simply put, it was a tragic situation. After waiting all day to take the field, his back problem returned at the end of the day. For scans, he was directed to the hospital. He doesn’t seem to be doing too well, though I’m not sure exactly what the scans showed, according to the skipper.
After the 2023 World Cup, ex-Indian opener Sunil Gavaskar selects this great talent to succeed Rohit as ODI captain.
Also, Rohit stated that he does not know how long it’s going to take the batsman to return.
“Clearly, that’s the reason he’s not here, so we have no idea exactly how long it will take him to heal or when he will return.” It didn’t seem all that fantastic when it was happening. He continued, “I hope he gets well quickly and returns to play.”
Iyer has been ruled out of the forthcoming ODI series against Australia due to the injury as well. The first edition of the three-match ODI series is planned for March 17 in Mumbai, with the following two games taking place on “March 19 and 22 in Vishakhapatnam and Chennai, respectively.”
In addition, according to a media site, Iyer is probably going to miss the first few games for his IPL team, the Kolkata Knight Riders.
